Below are links to thought-provoking publications written by four (4) Seventh-day Adventist theologians: Ekkehardt Mueller, ThD, Vanderlei Dorneles, D.Sc., Louis F. Were, and George McCready Price. They don't arrive at the same conclusions, but each offers sound, well-structured, Scripture-based interpretations. The authors' perspectives are well-worth prayerful and thoughtful consideration. "Blessed is he that readeth..." (Rev 1:3)
"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." (Jhn 16:13 KJV)
"None but those who have fortified the mind with the truths of the Bible will stand through the last great conflict."—White, E. G. (1911). The Great Controversy, p. 593.
The following table lists various interpretations of the seven (7) heads in Revelation 17. Each Bible scholar's name is a hyperlink to a document or video containing his/her comments on Revelation 17. A dash (-) entry means no interpretation. For entries in other than black font, a common color for an entity is used as a visual aid to see the entity show up in various rows. For example, red for papal Rome is interpreted as No. 5 by some and No. 7 or 8 by others.
Please let us know if anyone has been misrepresented.
[i] "This does not rule out the possibility that the personal appearance of Satan impersonating Christ may be what is meant by No. 8 of this series". —George McCready Price. The Time of the End. 1967, p. 46.
[ii] Per George McCready Price, this is documented in the Douay Bible and adopted by catholic theologians. See George McCready Price. The Time of the End. 1967, p. 39.
